GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi inaugurated the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's new building and the Cultural centre at Ulubari today.
Inaugurating the building, the Governor said that he was very happy to be present on the occasion of inaugurating Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's new building in Guwahati. With the inauguration of the building, people of the city would have the benefits of enjoying various services of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan close to their own place.
The Governor also said that with e inauguration of the building, Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan would be in a better position to work for the culture and spirituality of the state. He said, "Our unity lies in our culture and spirituality. Bhakti movement which is believed to have started its journey in the country centuries ago, was spearheaded by Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev in Assam, Ramanand to the Central India and Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji to the western part of our country. This cultural and spiritual connectivity made the apparently diverse looking people of our country as one family. The British tried their best to destroy this unity. But then people like Dr KM Munshi, Mahatma Gandhi and few others felt that they must do something to protect this unity which led to the formation of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan."
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor also said, "Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is a unique institution adored by many a luminaries around the world. It has been serving the nation with great dedication and purpose for the last eight decades. I wish the Guwahati Kendra of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan all success in all its endeavours. We understand that to build a modern India, the best foundation is our own culture, the best tool is our own hands and best material is our own aspirations. Therefore, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan should guide our human resources to the goal that is Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat."
Prof.Mukhi also said that Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, one of the most illustrated institutions in the world which was founded by Kulapati Dr. KM Munshi with the blessings of Mahatma Gandhi in 1938. It was established with the objective of preservation and promotion of India's culture and heritage.
