GUWAHATI: The president of the newly-floated political party Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP), Lurinjyoti Gogoi has lost the Assembly polls in both the seats he had contested.
In a Facebook post, Gogoi stated that he has accepted the people's mandate.
"At last the result of Assam assembly election 2021 was announced yesterday. Duliajan and Naharkatiya, from which we have filed candidature – voters of both the constituencies rejected us. We have accepted this verdict of the public wholeheartedly. We thank the 24,000 voters of Duliajan constituency and about 25,000 voters of Naharkatiya constituency who voted in favour of us," said Gogoi.
Further, he expressed hope that the newly elected MLAs will work for the betterment of the Assamese community and the State.
"Even if we could not win the support of the majority people, Lurinjyoti Gogoi will always be there for everyone. The AJP will move forward to establish uncompromising regionalism by correcting each mistake pointed out at us by the people. We will always be with the people in every crisis in Assam," he added.
