GUWAHATI: A team under Khetri Police Station was able to confiscate a large amount of cash from four people who illegally transported and sold cattle.

According to police sources, a police team found a Maruti Suzuki Swift vehicle parked near Kahikuchi on NH-37 during a routine patrol at around 2.20 AM on Tuesday. There were four people inside the vehicle. On thorough checking, the team recovered Rs 13 lakh in a bag carried by one of the four persons.

Upon interrogation, it was revealed that the money was received after selling cattle. The cattle had been illegally transported from Manipurtup in Nagaon and were sold in Shillong. The name of the four persons apprehended by the police are Atikur Ali of Manipurtup, Roha; Safiqul Islam of Saydor village in Rupahi, Nagaon; Moskikur Rahman of Kuchgaon, Rupahi; and Ashraful Islam from Dolbari village of Morigaon. Necessary action is being taken against the individuals.
