GUWAHATI: Addressing a press meet, Special Director General of Police, Assam, Harmeet Singh said they are taking all action to track down Subhalakshmi Dutta, the additional superintendent of police (ASP) (border) of Charaideo district, who is now absconding.

He mentioned that a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued in her name, and if she does not surrender by herself, they will be forced to take action as per the law. He also mentioned that three teams from the Assam Police are on the lookout for her and will soon be able to track her down.

Soon after her domestic help, Anima Proja filed a case (36/23 u/s 324/342 of the IPC) at Nazira Adarsha Police Station on August 27, and the ASP went into hiding. The charges against her were beating up domestic help, besides pouring hot water and spraying pepper power on the body while Dutta was working as the SDPO, Nazira.

Nazira Police, with the help of Guwahati Police, raided an apartment at Six Mile in Guwahati. When the policemen were outside the apartment, Dutta entered the apartment. The policemen could not recognise her as she was in her civvies. Sensing trouble, Dutta made her way out of the apartment, giving the policemen the slip.

She has two other cases at the Sivasagar Police Station on the charge of assaulting a home guard and an armed branch constable.
