GUWAHATI: In a bid to foil cattle smuggling, Jorabat police, in two separate operations, intercepted two trucks that were to smuggle cattle to Meghalaya.

A team of East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) of Jorabat Police outpost under Basistha Police Station rescued 44 cattle that were to smuggle to Meghalaya. The team intercepted a truck bearing registration AS17 C 5591 at Jorabat Crossing when it was trying to smuggle the cattle. The team arrested two thugs identified as Mafizul Khan (23) of Kalgachia and Aminul Haque (27) of Rupohi.

Again, a team of EGPD from Jorabat Outpost under Basistha Police Station arrested two smugglers identified as Shariful Islam (22) and Tafazul Islam (21), from Kaliabor, who were trying to smuggle six cattle into Meghalaya. The team intercepted one truck bearing registration AS12BC7812 while it was trying to smuggle the cattle.
