GUWAHATI: Rupa Deori, vice president of the APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee), has resigned from her post. The resignation letter from Rupa Deori was accepted by APCC President Bhupen Borah. Earlier, a phone call went viral between Rupa Deori and a Congressman, in which she demanded Rs 3 lakh as a bribe in exchange for the promise of appointing that person to the post of congress president in Kokrajhar district. Deori asked for the required amount in the name of APCC president Bhupen Borah. This phone call came to the knowledge of AICC (All India Congress Committee) Secretary Prithviraj Prabhakar Sathe, and he asked the APCC President to take action against her. But before the party action, she herself tendered her resignation from the vice president post. However, the APCC has formed a committee headed by APCC vice president and former MP Dwijen Sarma to inquire into the whole matter.
