GUWAHATI: At a time when the film industry of Assam is combating various challenges, the Assam State Film (Finance & Development) Corporation Limited (ASFFDC) has rued the fact that many filmmakers of the State never approach the ASFFDC for any kind of assistance.

ASFFDC chairman Simanta Shekhar said on Saturday is keen to promote Assamese films. The ASFFDC arranged for screening of two Assamese films at the Dubai Expo 2020. Efforts are also made by the ASFFDC to promote Assamese films by screening them at annual alumni festivals at institutions such as IIT Guwahati and Assam Engineering College (AEC), Shekhar said.

He denied allegations made by certain filmmakers that they have received no cooperaqtion from the ASFFDC. "These people never approached us in the first place," he said. He, however, added that those seeking assistance must adhere to certain guidelines issued by the State Government.

He pointed out that the ASFFDC is surviving by generating its own revenue.
