Assam State Primary Teachers Association decries delay in book supply, evaluation

GUWAHATI: The Assam State Primary Teachers Association (ASPTA) has submitted a memorandum to the secretary of the Elementary Education Department wherein it has alleged that although two months have elapsed of the ongoing academic year, students of primary schools of the State are yet to receive practice and evaluation books "due to chaotic guidelines of the Education Department."

ASPTA's president Ratul Chandra Goswami further stated in the memorandum that as per the new academic calendar, the first evaluation was supposed to be held between June 1 and June 9. However, the department sidelined this calendar and continued to conduct the third phase of Gunotsav 2022 in 10 districts of the State during this period. The Elementary Education Department did not bother to clarify whether the first evaluation was to be held in primary schools of the remaining districts, Goswami pointed out in the memorandum.

The ASPTA president appealed the secretary of the Elementary Education Department to issue a clear directive regarding when to conduct the first evaluation in various schools. Further, he urged the secretary to ensure that the students receive the long-overdue practice and evaluation books without further delay.
