GUWAHATI: The ASPTA (Assam State Primary Teachers' Association) has demanded the Assam government to release the dearness allowance (DA) of the teachers working under the government.

Addressing the media, ASPTA general secretary Ratul Chandra Goswami, who is also the Northeast spokesperson of All India Primary Teachers' Association, stated, "It has been a long-standing demand of the AIPTA to the Centre to release the DA of the teachers across the nation. The Centre on Wednesday released 11 per cent of the DA of the Central government employees for the year 2020. Similarly, the Assam government should release the DA of the teachers and employees under the government."

Further, Goswami underlined that the State government employees are working on a fixed pay since last year.

"Every day, the prices of commodities are rising. The price rise has affected the condition of the government employees. Thus, we appeal to the government to release the DA of the employees as soon as possible," Goswami added.
