Assam Trinamool Congress starts signature campaign against increase in property tax

GUWAHATI: The Assam Trinamool Congress (TMC) has started a signature campaign against increase in property tax by the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC).

Assam TMC president Ripun Bora interacted with shop owners and the public at the Ganeshguri vegetable market. He slammed the government's decision to increase taxes and said that the State Government was taking 'anti-people' decisions all the time. He also opposed the decision of the government to hand over the tax collection mechanism to an outsider company and to impose tax on boring water.

The Assam TMC will submit the signatures along with a memorandum to Chief Secretary of Assam.
