Assam: Unidentified Body Found in GMCH Parking Lot

GUWAHATI : An untoward incident took place on Monday in Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), when a dead body was found by B passerby in the parking lot of the hospital. According to the reports, it is assumed that the person died during his sleep as the body was covered in a blanket. The identity of the deceased is yet to be discovered by the police. The cause of death has also not been ascertained yet. According to sources, the body has been recovered by the police, and a  case registered. The police has still not concluded the cause of death, and further investigation has been launched. More details are awaited.

Earlier this year, a shocking incident took place in GMCH where a dead body of a young women, identified as Ayesha Khatun was found lying in the second floor of the old GMCH building under mysterious circumstances. According to the statement from the deceased's mother, Khatun had some disagreements with her husband the night prior to the incident. She had also accused Ayeaha Khatun's second husband Hadi Ali for killing her daughter.

On October 13th 2022, an ICU technician of GMCH, committed suicide in the hospital premises. The deceased was identified as Papu Das who joined GMCH just three weeks before the incident took place. He was a parmenant resident of Nalbari, Assam.   According to media reports, Papu Das committed suicide by injecting an unknown (poisonous) substance in his body. Papu was in a state of depression after having some altercations with GMCH higher officials. He took the step following the conflict with the officer. The body was later on to the GMCH for post mortem. Nevertheless, the police did not conclude the cause of death and said the accurate cause is yet to be discovered.
