GUWAHATI: The AGP (Asom Gana Parishad) on Monday held its first meeting for the nine newly-elected MLAs.
During the meeting, AGP president Atul Bora, who won from the Bokakhat constituency, was nominated as the leader of the AGP Legislature Party. On the other hand, the party's working president, Keshab Mahanta, who won the Kaliabor seat was nominated as the deputy leader of the Legislature Party. While Gauhati West MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita was nominated as chief whip, Ponakan Baruah, who secured the seat from Chabua was nominated as secretary.
The other MLAs who won from their respective constituencies are — Phani Bhushan Choudhury from Bongaigaon, Prithiraj Rava from Tezpur, Bhaben Bharali from Dergaon, Renupama Rajkhowa from Teok, and Pradip Hazarika from Amguri.
The meeting was also attended by several senior AGP leaders including Rajya Sabha MP Birendra Prasad Baishya.
