Axam Xahitya Xabha awards announced

GUWAHATI: The Axam Xahitya Xabha on Sunday announced four prestigious awards, namely the Vaishnab Pandit Sashi Chandra Borboruah Bota, the Chaganlal Jain Bota, the Nijora Kobi Sailyadhar Rajkhowa Bota and the Dhareswar Kotoki Xixu Xahitya Bota.

Noted academician, researcher and writer Dr Prafulla Mahanta has been awarded the Vaishnab Pandit Sashi Chandra Borboruah Bota. The award, given every two years, carries a citation, memento and a cheque of Rs 1 lakh.

Another educationist, researcher and writer Dr Siba Nath Burman has been awarded the Chaganlal Jain Bota. The award, given every five years, carries a citation, memento and a cheque of Rs 50,000.

Noted dramatist and writer Dr Akhil Chakraborty has been awarded the Nijora Kobi Sailyadhar Rajkhowa Bota. The award, given every two years, carries a citation, memento and a cheque of Rs 15,000.

Abhijit Sarma Baruah has been awarded the Dhareswar Kotoki Xixu Xahitya Bota. The award, given every two years, carries a citation, memento and a cheque of Rs 10,000.
