GUWAHATI: AIUDF chief Badaruddin Ajmal demanded a proper and time-bound inquiry into the matter of arm training camps in Mangaldoi. Ajmal wrote a letter to the Union Home Minister to intervene and requested action against the organizer of the arms training camp.

In the letter, he said, “I would like to bring to your kind notice that an arms training camp was organized between July 24 and July 30 at a school named Maharashi Bidya Mandir in Mangaldoi under Darrang district of Assam by Rashtriya Bajrang Dal, wherein around 350 young men (aged 18 to 30) were given training about handling and using arms, including small guns and other weapons. In a viral video, the office bearers of the organization were seen inciting people to wage a war against the minority community. They were openly threatening the minority community, spreading hatred against them, and also passing insulting remarks against them.”

Further, the letter said, “I request you to kindly pass order to the state government to carry out the proper and time-bound inquiry into the matter, take immediate and stringent action against the organizers and also pose a strict ban on the organization for any such event in the future. The investigation should also be done about the role of the local police administration which allowed such objectionable programmes despite unlawful activities being carried out therein.”

The AUIDF also wrote a letter to the Chief Minister of Assam, and DGP of Assam to look into this matter and take strict action against it.
