GUWAHATI: A doctor couple in Guwahati seemed to have taken sadistic pleasure in hurting a three-year-old girl and a boy of the same age, whom they claim to be their children. However, the investigators claim that the two kids are not biological children of the couple.

This incident came to light when Dr. Walliul Islam was arrested by the Paltan Bazar police in connection with it. Dr. Sangeeta Dutta, who was on the run, was caught by the Guwahati police in a house in the Ribhoi district of Meghalaya, near Khanapara, on Saturday night. "Dr. Walliul Islam and Dr. Sangeeta Dutta claim to be the parents of the two children, but they are not their biological children." The three-year-old girl was tied on the terrace to a post under the sun, which was noticed by the residents. On those grounds, a case was registered. The police and activists from Childline proceeded to their residence in the Roma enclave, Diganta Borah, Commissioner of Guwahati Police, said.

Borah added, "The residents near their apartment noticed that their child was tied on the terrace to a post, and they also used to torture the little girl. The doctor couple has three children; the elder child is a girl who is staying with the parents in a healthy state. The police rescued the minor girl on May 5 and sent her for a test. A team of GMCH experts conducted the test on the child and found several injuries, and the worst part is that she has injuries on her private parts, which shows that she was also sexually assaulted."

He said, "Dr. Walliul Islam and Dr. Sangeeta Dutta are now under police remand. The caretaker, Lakshi Ray, is also somewhat linked to this heinous crime and is also under judicial custody. Also, the third member who is also linked to this crime is the wife of Dr. Walliul Islam, Dr. Sangeeta Dutta. The elder daughter is safe with her guardian. The other two children are not their biological children, and the police are investigating the adoption process the couple underwent, and steps will be taken in the process."

The police officer said, "A medical test of the boy child has also been done. The test shows worrying findings. The report will come out tomorrow."
