GUWAHATI: The Gauhati High Court has rejected the bail applications of three persons – Chief Engineer (Electrical) of the Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway, Deputy Chief Electrical Engineer (Coaching) of NF Railway Ranjit Kumar Borah and Patna-based businessman Chintan Jain – who were arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a corruption case.

It may be mentioned that the CBI had arrested the trio on the charge that the two NF Railway officials had extended undue favours, in lieu of illegal gratification, to Jain in connection with various contracts under NF Railway. The CBI is said to have recovered Rs 2.27 crore from the accused persons at the time of their arrest.
