GUWAHATI: The Health and Enforcement branches of Guwahati Municipal Corporation conducted a joint inspection drive on Tuesday in a bakery factory named 'Ananda Bakery' located at Odalbakra, Shankar Nagar area of Guwahati.
The bakery factory was found to be violating various rules and regulations like engagement of children in the bakery factory; no valid trade license; preparation of food items in an unhygienic condition; improper storage of prepared food items in uncovered state; non-usage of mask, caps, gloves etc by the cooking staff; improper solid waste management and improper drainage system leading to collection of water which might facilitate breeding of mosquitoes and which is creating nuisance and health hazard to the employees and residents of the vicinity.
The food items which were found unfit for human consumption were destroyed. Notice will be served to the bakery factory soon. Moreover, a child of around 9-11 years of age was found working in the bakery factory. Child Line and the office of the Labour Commissioner were informed. Accordingly, the child was rescued by the Child Line team.
