Basistha Police arrested one for snatching bag

GUWAHATI: The Basistha Police on Sunday arrested a youth - Bishu Das (27) red handed while he was snatching a bag containing Rs. 2 lakh from one Vishal Sharma. A native of Jalpaiguri in West Bengal, Das was apprehended in the act of snatching the bag from Sharma. Sharma was on his bike after having withdrawn the amount from an ATM near Mega Plaza building under Basistha Police Station.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that Das along with three others were also involved in a case where a bag containing Rs. 50,000 was stolen from a vehicle parked on the premises of India Club, Guwahati on December 1. His face was captured in the CCTV footage of the Club. Das along with three others had followed one PramodSinghania to the club. While the others kept the club's security personnel engaged in a conversation, Das broke the back window of Singhania's parked car and decamped with the money. The accused is being interrogated by the Basistha Police Station in coordination with the Panbazar Police Station where a case has already been registered against him regarding the India Club incident.
