GUWAHATI: Following the direction of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Santanu Bharali, legal advisor to the CM chaired a meeting with a delegation of the Bishnupriya Manipuri Autonomous Council Demand Committee (BMACDC) on Wednesday. During the meeting, Bharali was assisted by Principal Private Secretary to the CM, Mridul Das.
The meeting was held to discuss the demand for the creation of Bishnupriya Manipuri Autonomous Council in Assam.
BMACDC chairman Gopidas Sinha submitted a memorandum to Bharali and discussed the justification for creation of the Autonomous Council for the Bishnupriya Manipuris living in Assam who has a population of around five lakh.
The delegation has demanded to place the proposal before the cabinet in the forthcoming winter session of the Assam Legislative Assembly.
The delegation also stressed to fulfill the demand for Central OBC to the community.
Bharali, who chaired the meeting on behalf of the CM informed the delegation that he has positive attitude to fulfill the demand for creation of the Autonomous Council. Bharali assured that all issues will be resolved through discussion.
He also informed the delegation that a meeting will be held with the CM after December 10 which will be communicated to chairman and general secretary in due time.
