GUWAHATI: The BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) is all set for the forthcoming by-elections and has formed four sub-committees for Tamulpur, Gossaigaon, Mariani, and Majuli constituencies.
The sub-committees have been formed by the Saffron party's State president Bhabesh Kalita and each sub-committee includes Ministers, MPs, MLAs, and senior workers of the party.
It is to be noted that all four seats in the above-mentioned constituencies are lying vacant.
The Mariani seat is lying vacant since Congress MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi resigned from the party to join the BJP. On the other hand, former Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal who won the Majuli seat was recently included in the Modi Cabinet as a Union Minister. The Tamulpur and Gossaigaon seats are lying vacant after the death of sitting MLAs Leho Ram Boro and Majendra Narzary respectively.
According to reports, the Mariani sub-committee will be led by Ministers Pijush Hazarika and Sanjay Kishan. In Majuli, the sub-committee will be headed by Ministers Ranoj Pegu and Bimal Bora. Ministers Ranjeet Kumar Dass and Ashok Singhal will lead the Tamulpur and Gossaigaon sub-committees respectively.
