GUWAHATI: The national executive meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahila Morcha will be held on September 9 and 10 at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan in Guwahati under the chairmanship of national president of the Women Morcha Banathi Srinivas. Addressing the media at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan, state BJP Mahila Morcha President Angoorlata Deka said, “The party has already started preparations for the National Executive Meeting of the Mahila Morcha to be held in Assam for the first time.”
Under Angoorlata Deka, the Mahila Morcha completed two years in the party and she thanked state BJP president Bhabesh Kalita, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, all office bearers of the Mahila Morcha, state executive members, and others. She also mentions the successful implementation of the party’s activities in the last two years.
Deka said, “Three executive meetings of the Morcha were held in Tzpur, Bongaigaon, and Golapghat in the last two years. In addition to the meetings, to make women physically, mentally, and economically independent, various steps were taken. She also mentioned that the Mahila Morcha, in collaboration with the Assam Kabaddi Association, organized a kabaddi tournament among women at Dimoria in Sonapur, in which more than 500 players from 37 organizational districts participated.
In addition, the Mahila Morcha organized a weaving training workshop at Latashil Ground under the supervision of the Directorate of Handicrafts and Textiles of the Government of Assam with the aim of introducing the younger generation to the weaving industry. In addition, the State Mahila Morcha, in memory of Bharat Ratna late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, awarded Atal Awards to several women who have made outstanding contributions to society. She also mentioned in Mahila Morcha organized a speech competition in the memory of Gyanpeeth Award winner Dr. Mamoni Raisom Goswami and the Sushma Swaraj Award in memory of the late Sushma Swaraj to distinguish women.
