GUWAHATI: The State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its first list of candidates for the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) election.

The election will be on June 8. The party announced a list of 25 candidates for the 26-member Council.

The candidates are: Prabhat Chandra Taro (Duar Amla), D Uphing Maslai (Amri), Abhijit Kro (Chinthong), Headsing Rongphar (Socheng), Longbison Bey (Rongkhang), Dr Tuliram Ronghang (Bithung Rengthema), Pawan Kumar (Kopili), Mangalsing Timung (Hamren), Rina Terrangpi (Ameng), Madhuram Lekhhte (Langpher), Kangbura Killing (Phuloni), Bili Mohan Khaklari (Langhin), Raju Tisso (Kokanthi), Lunsing Teron (Mahamaya), Ritesh Enghi (Namati), Kache Rongpipi (Socheng Dhengta), Jonney Timung (Lumbajong), Tilottoma Hasnu (Dhansiri) Amarsing Tisso (Singhason), Surjya Roghphar (Borjan), Kadom Terangpi (Sarupathar), Madhurjya Dhekial Phukan (Bokajan), Shraban Telenga (Deopani), Pabitra Rongpi (Nilip) and Richard Tokbi (Duarbagori).

The party is yet to name its candidate for Howraghat.

The last date for filing nominations is May 23, and the scrutiny of the nomination papers is on May 24. The last day for withdrawal of candidates is May 24, when State Election Commissioner (SEC) will publish the names of the candidates in the fray.

Repolling, if any, will be on June 10. The counting of votes will be on June 12.
