GUWAHATI: In the wake of the post-election violence that rocked the Cotton University campus on the night of January 5, the university authorities have asked boarders of the Sitanath Brahma Choudhury Hostel (SNBC) and the Mahendra Nath Deka Phukan (MNDP) Hostel to immediately vacate their rooms..

This decision was taken at a meeting of the Executive Council of the Cotton University on Friday.

The Executive Council has sent written intimation to the guardians of the boarders of these two hostels, asking them to make arrangements for alternative accommodation for their wards in view of the fact that it will take time to repair the damage caused to the hostel buildings as a result of the post-election violence.

The Executive Council also decided to have the incident enquired into by a high-level committee and take strict action against those found guilty of indulging in violence an vandalism.
