GUWAHATI: A book consisting of narratives by different writers on the life and works of renowned newsreader of All India Radio Lily Das Malik was released on Friday at the Gauhati Press Club, stated a press release.
Bijay Lakshmi Barua, who compiled the book, gave the outline and explained the purpose of publishing the book. Lily Das Malik could not attend the meeting and she sent a message from London, conveying her gratitude to the writers and others who are associated with the work.
Renowned journalist and writer Dhirendranath Chakravorty released the book and mentioned that Malik's voice is still echoing in the ears of the people.
Hishikesh Goswami and Mayur Bora attended the function as honoured guests. and expressed their happiness on this laudable venture to bring out a book on one of the great personalities of Assam for the inspiration of the new generation. Renowned newsreaders and contemporaries of Malik, Nekib Ahmed and Hiron Dutta, also expressed their appreciation through voice mail.
Swapnanil Barua spoke about her voice and unique style of newsreading. The book was published by Aak Baak. The meeting was presided over by Paramesh Dutta.
