Book Released on Life and Works of Renowned News Reader
GUWAHATI: A book consisting of narratives by different writers on the life and works of renowned newsreader of All India Radio Lily Das Malik, has been released on January 6 at the Guwahati Press Club.
At the beginning of the programme Bijay Lakshmi Barua who compiled the book gave the outline and explained the purpose of publishing the book.
Lily Das Malik could not attend the meeting, however, she sent a message from London conveying her gratitude to the writers and all who were associated with the work.
Renowned journalist and writer, Dhirendranath Chalcravorty released the book today and mentioned that her voice is still echoing in the ears of the people.
Hishikesh Goswami and Mayur Bora attended the function as honoured guests and expressed their happiness on this laudable venture to bring out a book on one of the great personalities of Assam for the inspiration of the new generation.
Pawan Malik son of Lily Das Malik in his message from London thanked all who have extended their co-operation in bringing the book to the light. Renowned newsreaders and contemporaries of Mrs. Malik, Nekib Ahmed and Hiron Dutta also expressed their appreciation through voice mail.
Swapnanil Barua spoke about reminiscent voice and the unique style of delivery of news reading by Mrs. Malik.
The book was published by Aak Baak. Bijay Lakshmi Banta on behalf of the family offered a vote of thanks to all who joined here in this book release function.
The meeting was presided over by Paramesh Dutta.
