GUWAHATI: Troops of Border Security Force (BSF) under Guwahati Frontier apprehended a cattle smuggler along with 70 cattle and also rescued 36 cattle during various operations from the bordering areas of Coochbehar district in West Bengal, Dhubri and South Salmara in Assam on the Thursday night.

Acting on a tip-off, troops of BSF BOP Chowkichar of 41Bn BSF under Guwahati Frontier carried out a special operation in Old Chowkichar village of Dhubri and apprehended a cattle smuggler along with 70 cattle heads and five Chappubaots, while these were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh. The apprehended cattle smuggler has been identified as Sahinur Islam (26) from Motakhawa in Dhubri, stated a release.

The cattle smuggler along with the cattle has been handed over to South Salmara Police Station for further legal action.

Besides above, vigilant Seema Praharis of BSF also rescued 36 cattle in various other operations from bordering areas of Coochbehar, Dhubri and South Salmara while the same were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh.
