GUWAHATI: A two-day brainstorming session on 'Implementation Strategy for National Education Policy-2020' began on Thursday at the NKC Auditorium of the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM).
According to après release, the keynote speaker of the programme was Dr Pankaj Mittal, secretary general, Association of Indian Universities. The participants include Prof GD Sharma, Vice Chancellor of USTM, apart from other dignitaries.
An enthusiastic interaction took place with the Faculty members of USTM at the end of the session.
Addressing the session, Dr Pankaj Mittal explained the roadmap of implementing NEP-2020. She said that universities have to do restructuring of its system under NEP. "The university has to decide whether it is a research university or a teaching university, or it can be both. This decision has to be based on the profile of the faculty members, courses, teaching methodology, libraries, laboratories and students", she said.
Speaking on programme restructuring, Dr Mittal said that every year there will be exit option and entry option. Explaining the working process of Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) she said that both online and offline mode of classes can be taken. It will be good for the visibility of the university as well as for the students if ABC can be implemented as a frontrunner.
Earlier, in his welcome address Prof GD Sharma mentioned that USTM is going to implement NEP-2020 from this academic year. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr BK Das, Pro VC, USTM. Dr RK Sharma, Advisor of USTM, was also present.
