GUWAHATI: The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) welcomed the announcement made by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) that mother tongues (22 scheduled languages) should be the medium of instruction from pre-primary to class XII and said that the announcement has revealed the anti-vernacular and anti-NEP stands taken by the Assam government. "This decision of the CBSE seems to have justified our demand for a thrust on vernacular language in the state," the union said.
