GUWAHATI: National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed charge sheet in NIA Special Court, Guwahati over grenade lobbing case (RC-04/2019/NIA/GUW) against the accused Pappu Koch Bokoliyal alias Bijoy Asom alias Anvi alias Rajini, 32 years, of Dibrugarh, Assam, Jahnabee Saikia, 49 years, of Kamrup(M), Pranamoy alias Pranmay Rajguru, 57 years, of Sivasagar, Chinmoy Lahkar, 25 years, of Kamrup (M), Indra Mohan Bora, 25 years, of Nagaon, Amrit Ballav Goswami, 41 years, of Golaghat, Sankib Talukdar, 26 years, of Kamrup (R), and Prakash Rajkonwar, 63 years, of Tinsukia, under section 120B, 121, 121A, 122, 307 and 326 of IPC, sections 25 (1B) and 35 of the Arms Act, sections 3 & 5 of the Explosive Substances Act and sections 13, 16, 18, 19, 20, 23, 38 & 39 of UAPA.

The accused persons have been charged for conspiracy and indulging in terrorist acts and unlawful activities, waging war against India, conspiracy to wage war against India, illegal possession of arms and ammunition, illegal possession and use of explosive substances, harbouring of ULFA terrorist, providing support to ULFA terrorists and associating with ULFA terrorists.

The case pertains to the attack on security personnel on duty at RG Baruah Road near Central Mall, Guwahati, on May 15, 2019 by lobbing a grenade. This led to injuries to 12 persons in which several persons were grievously injured.

Investigation revealed that accused Pappu Koch Bokoliyal was the ULFA terrorist who lobbed the grenade. In this terrorist act, he was assisted by accused Chinmoy Lahkar, who was riding a motorcycle. Further investigation against the other accused persons, continues.
