GUWAHATI: Two more persons have been arrested by the CID (Crime Investigation Department) sleuths on Monday in connection to the 'Pre-Matric Scholarship Fund' case.

The arrests were made after a team of CID with the help of local police, conducted search at various locations under Nagarbera and Boko PS in the intervening night of January 3 and January 4, 2021. During the search, the two accused - Md. Ashraf Ali (33) from Badla Pathar village and Mustafa Ahmed (31) from Jawakatadiya were apprehended.

Ali is a business correspondent-cum CSP owner of Central Bank of India, Malibari Bazar while Ahmed acted as middleman to misappropriate scholarship amounts meant for students belonging to minority community of Barpeta. The total arrests in connection to the case (20/2020 U/S 120B/406/ 409/419/420/468/471 IPC) now stand at 32.
