GUWAHATI: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Assam Police was able to trace and freeze Rs 3,90,782 on Thursday in regard to an incident of cyber fraud in the state.
CID was working based on the complaint filed by Smita Sarma on May 15 regarding an incident of fraud that led to the loss of Rs 4,89,208.90 from a total of accounts belonging to her and her family members. Three of the four accounts involved in the incident were registered with Axis Bank, while the fourth was with SBI.
Taking immediate action regarding the same, the CID was able to freeze a major part of the fraud amount. CID officials appealed to the citizens to remain vigilant and asked them not to share details related to finances with anyone.
In a separate incident, Rs 15030 was stolen from one Choudhari Pradeep Ramesh using cyber fraud from his account at HDFC Bank on May 12. Taking immediate action, CID was able to recover the total amount from the fraudsters.
