Key issues discussed at review meeting with DCs
GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired a review meeting on a range of topics with the Deputy Commissioners of various districts at the Assam Administrative Staff College auditorium here on Monday.
Speaking on the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, aimed at ensuring that the National Flag is hoisted on display at every household in the country between August 13 and August 15 next, the Chief Minister issued directives to the Deputy Commissioners to ensure maximum participation of people in their respective districts. The Chief Minister asked the Deputy Commissioners to go on a massive publicity campaign, highlighting the relaxation of flag codes, among others, in the run-up to the platinum jubilee celebrations of India's Independence. Sarma also asked the Deputy Commissioners to ensure that the ensuing Independence Day is celebrated in a manner befitting the occasion of 75 years of the nation's freedom from colonial rule.
On the Jal Jeevan Mission, the Chief Minister instructed the senior officials and the Deputy Commissioners to have zero-tolerance on quality of work by the contractors concerned and the reviewing personnel. He further asked them to look into the factors inhibiting the scheme from extending its full intended benefits to the beneficiaries and sort them out in the shortest possible time period.
Calling Ayushman Bharat the Prime Minister's dream project, the Chief Minister asked the Deputy Commissioners and officials concerned to ensure roll-out of Aadhaar-seeded Prime Minister's Jan Arogya Yojana in a time-bound manner so that the intended beneficiaries are not deprived of the scheme.
The Chief Minister also discussed schemes such as Prime Minister's AwaasYojana, Amrit Sarovar, Aadhaar enrolment in tea gardens etc., in the meeting.
The Chief Minister emphasized on use of technology and modern mechanisms such as direct benefit transfers (DBT), Aadhaar-seeding, etc., in dispersal of benefits to intended beneficiaries.
Today's meeting was also attended by Public Health Engineering Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah, Chief Secretary Jishnu Baruah and senior-most officials of the State Government.
