GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal condoled the death of veteran social worker, retired Assam Civil Service Officer, nonagenarian Sishuram Pegu who breathed his last on Saturday.

In a statement here today, Chief Minister Sonowal said that as an astute public servant and later as a social worker, late Sishuram Pegu contributed immensely for the welfare of all sections of the people of the society. He was also associated with Axam Xahitya Xabha and Mising Sahitya Sabha. Late Sishuram Pegu who had graduated from St. Edmunds College, Shillong and later received his education in Shanti Niketan also played a great role in motivating the youths of his area to take education sincerely and bring about changes in the society education.

His death is a great loss to the State, said Chief Minister Sonowal while condoling the bereaved family members, and prayed to the Almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul.
