GUWAHATI: The city bus commuters of Guwahati have appealed to DTO-Kamrup (M) to look into matters like city bus conductors not issuing tickets after charging fares, charging excess fares early in the morning and late at night etc.

The DTO, Kamrup-M, hiked the fares of city buses in Guwahati. A section of city bus commuters in Guwahati alleges that even after the hike in bus fares, the conductors do not give tickets to the passengers. "This is unfair. They should give passengers tickets," one of the commuters said.

Another commuter said, "City bus conductors in Guwahati, more often than not, charge higher fares early in the morning and late at night. Generally, poor people travel by city buses. City buses cannot charge bus fares at rates fixed by none other than themselves in the early morning and late at night. DTO should look into all such matters to save the commuters."

A source in the DTO office said, "We carry out checks in city buses from time to time. We have our online pages. The affected commuters can lodge complaints there. They can also ring the numbers given on our online page."
