GUWAHATI: After several days of allegations and counter-allegations, Congress member Angkita Dutta was expelled from the Indian National Congress (INC) party on Saturday. She was removed from the primary membership of the party for six months for her involvement in anti-party activities.
The suspension order undersigned by Tariq Anwar, Member Secretary DAC, read, “Hon’ble Congress President has expelled Dr. Angkita Dutta, Assam Pradesh Youth Congress, from the primary membership of the party, for six years for her anti-party activities, with immediate effect.” This step comes after multiple complaints regarding her involvement in activities that went against the interests of the party. Several warnings and notices were issued to her ahead of this expulsion.
Meanwhile, the leader of the opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly also commented, “The AICC today expelled #AnkitaDutta from the Congress party for 6 years. She recently went out of the party line & did some anti-party activities & was given a show-cause notice for that. The #AICC was not satisfied with the reply to the notice, & as a result, she was suspended.”
