Congress pays Rs 2 lakh to kin of each Citizenship Amendment Act martyr

GUWAHATI: Following an announcement made by former AICC president Rahul Gandhi, the Congress handed over Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of each of the two martyred during the agitation against the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) in Guwahati.

A team of the party comprising national leader Harish Rawal, APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) president Ripun Bora and former State minister Rakibul Hussain met the next of kin of Sam Stafford and Dipanjal Das in Guwahati and handed them cheques of Rs 2 lakh each.

The team of the Congress is set to go to Udalguri and Bhabanipur on Sunday where one each was martyred during the agitation against the CAA. The next of kin of each of the two martyrs will also be given Rs 2 lakh each by the team that will leave for Dibrugarh on Monday to hand over Rs 2 lakh to the kin of a youth killed there during the agitation.
