GUWAHATI: The students of Cotton University organized a protest photo exhibition displaying collection of photographs from the agitation against the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) followed by an open discussion session and a torchlight march.

Talking to The Sentinel former general secretary of Cotton College Jintu Thakuria said, “We marched to Dispur on December 11 when the police did lathi-charge and fire tear gas upon the students. We’re trying to display everything that has happened in this one month. We’ll continue our protest until the Act is scrapped. We’ve already taken a step as 'Saturday against CAA' to oppose the Act. The government didn’t respond to the people of Assam and has issued notification for the implementation of the Act. Now it’s our turn to answer them in the 2021 election. The student community will now go to their home on holiday. They will create awareness among the people.” Speaking on the open discussion, general secretary Rahul Bordoloi appealed to everyone to stick to their stand against the CAA. Bordoloi added, “We’ve witnessed a continuous effort by some force to mislead our thought. The government has again given us a date. We won’t disrespect the judiciary. We’ll wait till January 22, 2020.”
