GUWAHATI: The newly reconstructed Shwahid Ranjit Barpujari Boys' Hostel was inaugurated today by Vice Chancellor of Cotton University Prof Bhabesh Chandra Goswami in the presence of Registrar (i/c) Prof Maheswar Kalita, Deans, faculty members, staff and students.

The hostel has a capacity of 126 seats and houses 60 rooms on a double and triple-sharing basis. The newly constructed building comprises 6 floors and is equipped with modern facilities for boarders. The hostel will accommodate international students and research scholars on the top two floors and postgraduate students on the remaining floors.

The hostel, which was earlier known as the 2nd Mess in the erstwhile Cotton College, was constructed during the British rule in 1913 by the then college authority, a press release said.
