GUWAHATI: Craters on the VIP Road in its entire stretch from Pathar Quarry to Six Mile give vehicle driving a harrowing experience.

VIP Road is a busy road. Vehicles of all hues, including heavy ones like dumpers, twelve-wheelers and slow-moving ones like e-rickshaws, ply this road. The potholes on this road create problems in driving and travelling for commuters.

The VIP Road comes under Dispur PWD Division. When contacted, a senior PWD engineer of the Division, on condition of anonymity, said, "We don't repair roads during the monsoon. We float tenders before starting repair works on any road. The problem remains that we cannot raise the heights of roads while repairing them. It makes us take out the upper layer of roads before repairing them. We dug out the upper layer of a few stretches of the VIP Road from Six Mile to the Tennis Court. However, we had to stall the work because of the rain. We resumed work on October 28, 2022. And we have to repair work only at night. It takes time."
