DC of Police, Nabaneet Mahanta imposed section 144 in parts of Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in the areas of West Police District, Guwahati has been imposed by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Nabaneet Mahanta.

Assembly of more than five persons including agitation, demonstration, procession and shouting of slogans are prohibited in areas under Bharalumukh, FatasilAmbari, Garchuk, Jalukbari, and Azara Police stations. All the landlords and property owners of these areas should refrain from renting or sub-letting accommodation to any person without providing details of the tenant to the concerned police station. The people dealing with property business are also to abide by the order.

According to a release, the order was issued after the Deputy Commissioner observed that some specified and unspecified persons or groups or organizations are likely to disturb normal functioning of officers, movement of public and flow of traffic in parts of West Police District by carrying out demonstrations.
