GUWAHATI: Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Debabrata Saikia demanded the state government publish the provisional list of selected candidates before the appointment letter distribution ceremony at Sarusajai on May 11.

In this regard, Debabrata Saikia wrote to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and said, "We welcome the appointment of 51397 candidates that will be declared on May 6. But with this recruitment, there arise three problems: Number one is that category-based testing is overlapping, as the candidates appeared in multiple written tests and all of them passed. Under the third and fourth grades, there were written tests with candidates in the categories of graduation, graduation with computers, higher secondary, and higher secondary (science), where the maximum number of candidates passed in these four categories. So, if one candidate passes in multiple categories and joins in one category, then the other category remains vacant.

"The second problem arises from department-based overlapping. Many candidates appeared for multiple departments and passed in all of them. But if they join one department, the other department remains vacant.

"Thirdly, many successful candidates have already joined SBI, IBPS, Indian Railways, and the postal department. So, if these candidates’ names are on the list, then those posts will be vacant.

"That is why a provisional list is required to be released for these 51397 candidates." Also, a web portal should be introduced so that multiple candidates can apply to multiple departments for their respective posts.
