GUWAHATI: The Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS) is going to start agitational programmes from September 16 demanding hike in tea estate workers' wage.
In a statement issued to the media on September 14, ACMS executive members Laksheswar Tanti said, "The BJP-led government in the State and at the Centre haven't yet hiked the daily wage of tea estate labourers to Rs 351 even after making an announcement to that effect. In protest against this falsehood on the part of the government we're going to start a series of agitations from September 16.
"On September 16, we'll stage an hour dharna in every tea garden in the Brahmaputra Valley. On September 22, ACMS branches will stage an-hour dharna in DC, SDO (civil) and circle offices in the State. On September 29, garden labourers will form human chains on national and state highways on the same demand."
