GUWAHATI: The Kamakhya Temple has geared up to celebrate the vibrant Deodhani festival from Friday until August 20. This festival is dedicated to Maa Manaxa, and to mark this festival, Manaxa Puja is also celebrated.

According to one of the priests, "people are possessed with the power of the Devi, and they perform his dance form. They dance to the rhythm of drums, cymbals, etc. It is believed that people receive power from the goddess, and they perform so."

The various temples that have the deities perform Manaxa Puja and celebrate the Deodhani festival.

Another one said, "We sacrifice pigeons, goats, sugarcane, and others in the name of our Devi. Every year there has been a huge crowd of devotees, and this year too we are expecting more devotees to visit the temple."
