Devotees can enter Kamakhya temple without COVID-19 testing from Dec 16

Guwahati: A good news for the Kamakhya temple devotees, as the Maa Kamakhya devotees do not need to go through a COVID-19 test to enter the premises of the Kamkhya temple, Guwahati, Assam. From December 16, devotees can go for Kamakhya 'darshan' without the COVID-19 test certificate.

However, it is to mention that anyone who would want to enter the Shakti Peeth (Sanctum sanctorum) of the temple, they have to produce a COVID negative test certificate.

However, earlier it was mandatory for all the devotees to produce a COVID negative test result to enter the Kamakhya temple. But many of the devotees were seen crowding the steps leading to the gate. Therefore, the authorities have now allowed the devotees to enter the premises. However, to enter the main premises, one needs to produce the COVID negative test results.

To enter the main premises, one can get themselves tested at the foothill of the Nilachal Hills. A testing camp has been set up by the authorities. The devotees can also opt for a pre-testing result with 72-hours validity.

Prior to this, the devotees of Maa Kamkhya had to go through medical tests at the entrance of the temple. Medical booths were also constructed by the authorities.

One of the oldest of the 51 Shakti Peeths, Kamkhya Temple in Guwahati is situated on the Nilachal Hills, in the western parts of Guwahati. There are ten individual temples dedicated to the ten Mahavidyas of Saktism. They are Kali, Sodashi, Tara, Bhuvaneshwari, Chhinnamasta, Bhairavi, Dhumavati, Matangi, Bgalamukhi, and Kamalatmika.

Every year thousands of devotees, not only from the region but across the country visit the temple.
