GUWAHATI: A delegation of the AIUDF (All India United Democratic Front), on Saturday, met the Governor of Assam, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi and submitted a memorandum on its five-point charter of demands concerning the eviction and shooting incident at the Dholpur-Gorukhuti areas under Darrang District as well the consequent repercussions among the public since those incidents that took place there on September 23, 2021.

The delegation was led by the leader of the AIUDF legislature party, Hafiz Bashir Ahmed.

The AIUDF in its memorandum placed the following five demands.

Besides seeking "a judicial inquiry on the incident", the AIUDF demanded adequate compensation of Rs 20 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 10 lakh to the injured persons. The AIUDF also demanded immediate steps for relief and rehabilitation of the victims, with a minimum of six bighas of land for agriculture and one bigha of land for residential purposes of the affected persons.

The party has also sought immediate proper action for health and sanitation, drinking water, and also food for the affected people.

The memorandum added that "in case of further eviction, prior alternative shelter and other amenities must be arranged and assured for the targeted people of the area".

Later, the members of AIUDF staged a silent demonstration over the issue at Dispur Last Gate.
