GUWAHATI: On the 93rd birthday of former chairman of the GMDA (Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority) Guwahati Pran Dhiren Baruah, several noted dignitaries addressed a press meet to highlight his contributions to the society.
The dignitaries present in the press meet were journalist and writer Dhrindranath Chakraborty, legal adviser to the Chief Minister Santanu Bharali, social worker Dijen Bhatacharya, among others.
Baruah attended the meet virtually due to health issues.
Addressing the mediapersons, Chakraborty said Baruah is a great human being who continuously served the society.
"During his tenure in the GMDA, he did many developmental works which cannot be forgotten by the society. From constructing roads to providing water facilities to the people, Baruah believes in serving the people," Chakraborty added.
Legal adviser to the CM Santanu Bharali also wished for the good health of Baruah and said he has worked through his entire life for his motherland.
The press meet was organized by Kamrup Natya Samiti, Guwahati Bihu Samilani, Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Foundation, GMDA, Dr. Bhubaneswar Baruah Cancer Institute, among others. It is to be noted that the title Guwahati Pran was given to him by various organizations of the city in 2014.
