GUWAHATI: The Directorate of Museums, Assam observed the Lok Kalyan Diwas on 5th August 2022 at the Kanak Lal Barua Auditorium. The day is celebrated on the occasion of the death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi.
All officers and officials of the Directorate of Museums and Assam State Museum gathered to celebrate the event. Snigdha Hasnu, Curator i/c of the Assam State Museum chaired the event and Loly Hazarika, Guide Lecturer-cum-Exhibition Officer delivered a lecture on the life journey of Bharat Ratna Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi. In her speech, she highlighted the freedom struggle of the unknown freedom fighters from the State. Further, Pragyan Kranti Kalita, Assistant Architect of the Museum highlighted some key factors to uplift the building of Bharat Ratna Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Memorial Museum, Raha, as the museum premise is often inundated during heavy rains. The meeting concluded with a resolution to felicitate two staff at the Directorate level every year to commemorate Lok Kalyan Diwas, a press release said.
