GUWAHATI, May 19: An awareness programme on Disaster Management was organized at Excelcare Hospitals, Paschim Boragaon on Saturday.

State Chief Secretary TY Das, in her inaugural speech, highlighted the importance of every citizen’s involvement in Disaster Management and stressed the need to devise an effective and coordinated approach by all stakeholders towards this important subject. The Chief Secretary appreciated the efforts of Excelcare Hospital in organizing the programme incorporating National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) and other stakeholders, a press release said.

Manash Pratim Baruah, one of the directors of the Hospital, said that the hospital since its establishment has given due importance towards the importance issue of the Disaster Management and urged for cooperation from all concerned to enable to hospital to formulate a realistic and comprehensive Disaster Management policy.

Brigadier Yogendra Singh, Commandant, Army Hospital, Basistha, Guwahati, who was also present in the awareness programme, highlighted the importance of effective disaster management policy and its periodic revision. He said the Army Hospital is willing to provide all guidance and support to other hospitals in formulating a comprehensive Disaster Management scheme.
