GUWAHATI: A meeting was held in the office Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kamrup district to discuss about the activity matrix to be taken up in collaboration with various departments in Kamrup district in the POSHAN Maah, which began on September 1.

The meeting was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner, in charge of Social Welfare, Manali Jain. Officers from various departments like Panchayat and Rural Development, Elementary Education, Public Health Engineering, Information and Public Relations, AYUSH etc. were present in the meeting.

The meeting was briefed by the Social Welfare Department on various programmes to be carried out across the district in the POSHAN Maah. Officials of the departments assured that everyone would cooperate for the successful completion of the POSHAN Maah. In line with this meeting, UNICEF State Nutrition Consultant Gitashree Phukan explained about child care and some of the health norms to be performed by all in the POSHAN Maah.

It may be mentioned that this month of POSHAN has been celebrated since 2018 with the aim of building a nourished India. This year's theme for POSHAN Maah is "Converging towards a healthy walk-through life". In a greeting message sent on the occasion of POSHAN Maah, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his hope that the celebration of this month would be able to create a Jan Andolan in the fight against malnutrition.

District Social Welfare Officer Rubul Sharma has mentioned that so far 37,770 women are provided financial assistance under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana in the district and expressed hope that the observance of POSHAN Week and Month will create more awareness about child and mother's nutrition, stated a press release.

On the other hand, after the conclusion of the meeting, the journey of a vehicle, branded in connection with POSHAN Maah was inaugurated from the office of the DC, Kamrup today to create awareness on nutrition.
