GUWAHATI: The Dispur Police on January 2 seized 12 pick-up vans at Khanapara, Guwahati for carrying poultry leftover illegally.

According to reports, for the current year, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has leased out the job of carrying poultry waste to a party. The move is aimed at keeping the city clean from the waste generated from poultry products, informed GMC doctor Pradeep Medhi.

The matter of illegal transportation of these wastes came to light after the party that received the GMC tender to collect the waste failed to submit its revenue for last two months to the GMC. After the GMC issued a notice to the party it lodged a complaint that someone else has been carrying the poultry leftover illegally from the designated places.
